Airports are again headed into a huge growth spurt and profitability, as the industry rebounds from the low traffic levels of the pandemic years. Airports Council International (ACI) predicts a need for strong airport infrastructure growth and projects that air travel will increase to 158% of federal fiscal year 2019 by 2040. Current infrastructure cannot support such accelerated growth.

U.S. airports and airlines are bound by federal restrictions on cost-recovery rates and charges that could be used to fund airport facility improvements, expansion, and modernization. This underscores the need for creative solutions to keep our airports and airlines viable and competitive.
